In a stunning upset, Islam Makhachev defended his UFC lightweight title against former interim champion Dustin Poirier on Saturday night.
Poirier, who entered the fight as a significant underdog, started strong in the first round, but Makhachev gradually took control of the bout. In the third round, Makhachev caught Poirier in a devastating Darce choke, forcing him to tap out at 2:42.
