Real Madrid Defeats Bayern Munich 1-0 in 2004 Champions League Quarterfinal First Leg
Bayern Munich fell to Real Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match on Tuesday.
The lone goal of the match came from Real Madrid's Raúl in the 37th minute.
The match was played in front of a packed crowd at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid. Bayern Munich had the better of the chances in the first half, but they were unable to find the back of the net. Real Madrid grew into the game as the half wore on, and they eventually took the lead through Raúl's goal.
Bayern Munich pushed for an equalizer in the second half, but they were unable to break down the Real Madrid defense. The German side will now need to score at least twice in the second leg in order to advance to the semifinals.
The second leg of the quarterfinal will be played on March 10 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
